Hello,

Not much new information going around but alot of rumors to the information that is going around.

1st The 1.9 Billion loan basically makes Bob the only Owner and removes the creditors. So this does'nt exactly save him money but rather it gives him complete unfeathered control of the company. No more comments or demands from investors.

2nd Information has it that trooper was caught accessing the site from an internal network and was forced to remove the site and let go.

3rd The newest rumor is that all 3rd parties will be locked out in 60-90 days. (interesting enough almost 60% of clients are up for renewal these last 2 quarters of the year?)

4th (for dealers kinda old) Rumor is that reynolds will no longer negotiate their contracts to compete with ADP or others. The price is the price!

As always Bob's thoughts "We have a superior product you should pay what ever I ask"

5th The fine print has changed on contracts to the point that after all new contracts are signed they will no longer need a Salesforce!!!! Hmm.. Maybe dealers should have their lawyers read it!!!..

6th More layoffs going on during the month of April and probably to continue through the new fiscal year..(June)

Some of these rumors have been confirmed others have not!!! If you have info to confirm or deny feel free to post a comment!!

1. Comment 4 makes sense cosnidering some feedback I have recieved from former R&R clients who have moved on to competitive systems. It seems that lately R&R account managers have been telling customers that they must start paying the price we ask and that big discounts are a thing of the past. All that has done is push even more dealers away.
So, the trend continues and with time R&R will more closely resemble the old ucs in size. Perhaps to as many as 800-900 accounts.
Who wins? Dealertrack seems to have the most potential right now. If they can beef up staff to meet demand.

2. Did the loan actually get approved? I heard that he was denied the loan.

3. Wow- how much incorrect information can one weblog posting contain?

If you can read, you can find out that Reynolds now has a new loan, much less than the first loan, but still a loan that has to be paid in the future.

Also- Reynolds is indeed discounting systems in order to attract business. Not as much as ADP, but more than what used to be offered. Sometimes ADP isn't real smart from a business viewpoint- discounting contracts past the profit point.

Dealertrack actually has to make some profit in their DMS business, which as of their last quarterly report they were not doing.

Next- 60% of all contracts come up within a six month period? That's is a real doozy. Utterly wrong, but still a real doozy.

Lastly, so we won't need a sales force soon, huh? Come on, think up something that is at least somewhat plausible. That one isn't even worth responding to.

4. Yeah, me no quite follow some of the logic. 1.9 Billion borrowed does not leave you not having to answer to anyone. You have to answer to the owners, i.e. the bankers you borrowed the money from. They are the owners, not the dipshit

5. "Also- Reynolds is indeed discounting systems in order to attract business."

Hmm. I would like to hear that from dealers out there??? Because the all seem to confirm that rumor?

"1.9 Billion borrowed does not leave you not having to answer to anyone. You have to answer to the owners, i.e. the bankers you borrowed the money from. They are the owners, not the dipshit"

I disagree.. Do you answer to your mortgage company? Not if your paying your monthly payments? Investors and bankers are two different kind of relationships?

6. I would like to add that "Rumors" that where listed where based on hearing it from multiple sources.

Also Keep in mind that anybody with this kind of information is not going to come out and put their name on it and declare it as fact?

That does not mean that these rumors are true?
Yet this also does not render them as false?

As for stating Quarterly earnings of other provider's that is a little unfair since we can't compare them to Reynolds earnings?

As for this comment

"Lastly, so we won't need a sales force soon, huh? Come on, think up something that is at least somewhat plausible. That one isn't even worth responding to. "

All I have to say is:

READ THE NEW CONTRACT

I also thought that was not possible until a dealer sent me the new contract and I read the new contract. It was very sneaky on how they accomplished it.

I would post it? But i believe that may get me into some legal issues by doing so.

7. Do you answer to your mortgage company?

Try missing a few mortgage payments and then tell me you don't answer to who owns your house.

ReplyDelete
8. "Try missing a few mortgage payments and then tell me you don't answer to who owns your house."

You are correct in that point. But my point is investors can have a say in how you do bussiness regardless of whether your paying or not!! Compared to a bank who will not meddle with your bussiness unless you are defaulting.

So for example you take a mortgage to buy a two family house but you live in it and don't rent the apartment? Bank does'nt care as long as you pay your note.

Now take that same scenerio and get a handful of investors and do the same thing? They may realize that they can get paid back faster if you rent that apartment? So all the investors get together and force your hand to rent that apartment so they can get a return on their investment faster?

Now i'am not saying that they are doing that in this case. Maybe its just about saving money and doing a refinance but it does leave him in a better control posture than with investors.

Also a banks way of doing things in a default situation is different than an investors way of dealing with it.

Atleast my opinion from past experiences...

Besides does anybody really own anything outright nowadays!!!...lol...

9. I own my destiny (I think), took control of it and got another job shortly after the takeover. Have been happily helping other Reynolds folks connect to good job openings. There are a number of great people that landed with other good companies in the area. It's good to stay in touch with the network.

10. I find it hard to believe the Trooper was dumb enough to access the original website from work. However, I had a feeling he did because whenever I would leave a comment, it wasn't approved until business hours. Leave a comment on a Saturday, Monday morning at 9 or 10 they were posted. I also find it hard to believe it took URey THAT long to find him out. So, who was he anyway? I'm just curious.

To the third commenter: "Reynolds is indeed discounting systems in order to attract business" does not sound the same as "reynolds will no longer negotiate their contracts to compete with ADP or others. The price is the price!" to me.

12. "At least he's donating to the right causes..."

I was hoping we could leave politics out of this. So he donated to some Republican PAC's and candidates- whatever.

But donating to "CASH AMERICA INTERNATIONAL"? Supporting the pay day loan/pawn industry is a good cause?

ReplyDelete
13. I just glossed the list, I didn't see Cash America and have no idea why he would be donating to them.

As far as the 'whatever' politics go, it just always amuses me that he supports the conservative causes but runs his company like a nanny state that would make any liberal proud.

ReplyDelete
14. ooops... you're right. Who'd ever think there were two Robert Brockmans in Texas... isn't one of them one too many?

ReplyDelete
15. To the May 1, 9:26am poster:

That is why I posted it. He sure doesn't run his company like a conservative, but I cannot believe he donated all that cash to a losing cause. He sure treats everybody like he's a dictator. And yes, that's a different Bob Brockman donating to Cash America.

16. "As far as the 'whatever' politics go, it just always amuses me that he supports the conservative causes but runs his company like a nanny state that would make any liberal proud. "

He doesn't run the company like a liberal, nanny state he runs the company like a neo-Nazi police state. The only thing that is remotely liberal is the Wellness program. The rest of the crap like being ordered to submit blood and urine for testing and the remote locator system would make any dictatorship proud!

Oh well, whatever you want to call it, at least putting up with it is optional. If anyone doesn't like playing the game by his rules, they can always quit.

And whether we like it or not, he owns the company and he gets to make the rules...

ReplyDelete
18. To the above poster, you have a valid point we can leave and I suspect many of us will as soon as possible.

ReplyDelete
19. Look, bobo runs the company like he OWNS it. Which he does. So far as I know he has not gassed anyone yet or lined any employees up in the lobby of cellblock 1 (RP) for a firing squad to practice on. The lefties constant nazi-hitler comparisons for anyone that does not think or act just as they do is patently offensive to those who were victimized ( and their families)by the real nazis. It also shows the historical ignorance of those who make such references.
To that point, Hitler's policies were near replicas of other left-wing rulers such as Mussolini, Stalin, Mao and our own american progressive movement exemplified by the likes of Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ and the current "progressive" resident of the White House. They only differ in their ultimate "solutions" to the "problem".
Don't think so? Do your research.

20. How are they planning on locking out the third parties? They already have the annoying questions that pop up in 6910 and query builder

ReplyDelete
21. Just guessing and since it's been 1 1/2 yrs since I was let go, I'm not sure what hardware changes have been made, but if they no longer use modems than access would have to be through vpn. Since the dealers pay for each vpn connection they aren't likely to just give that away to vendors.
Like I said, this is just a guess. I'm sure someone out there has the correct answer.

ReplyDelete
22. The vendor lock out will likely come through a new version of eralink that advises customers that it is for their use only and is not licensed for third parties.. (rumor has it) they would, of course, then be directed to have their vendors call the RCI hotline.

ReplyDelete
23. Or the dealership would assign a person to download some reports each morning and email them to the vendor.

ReplyDelete
24. Or you can do what I do and setup a secure VPN client that does not cost us a thing, that only allows the vendors to access ERA and ERA only. Not difficult at all to achieve. Also you can have a server like I do that is dedicated to vendors only, and use Homenet (A Vendors 3rd party app) and have ERAlink loaded on that server. Lack of modems is not an issue for me.

ReplyDelete
25. Maybe you could tell us which section of the contract actually says the dealer will no longer have use of the sales force.
Not to quibble, but that would be counter-intuitive for bobo since he needs these people to continue the relationship (such as it is) in hope of selling them again someday.

ReplyDelete
26. "that would be counter-intuitive for bobo since he needs these people to continue the relationship (such as it is) in hope of selling them again someday."

What does that have to do with a dealership reducing its sales force? What kind of relationship does he need with salespeople? They aren't buying the system, the dealer is. The dealer would be saving huge money not having much of a sales force.

ReplyDelete
27. It's the R&R sales force the dealer won't "need" according to the rumor posted at the beginning of this thread. At least that is what it appears is being said.
Perhaps some clarification is in order. Also, I like the suggestion that the section of the contract be referenced.

28. I'm not going to post the whole articles, but Bob & the Fab four need to read these articles:
5 Ways to Ensure Mediocrity in Your Organization
Ten Management Practices to Axe

ReplyDelete
29. The very fact that these two articles were even written illustrates the fact that a large number of companies operate in a very similar manner as ole' bobo does. If he was unique, this woman wouldn't know such practices exist.
Thus, proof of a theme recounted on this blog for several years: UREY is NOT a unique workplace. The "old" R&R was unique. Most companies treat their employees to varying extents in a less than honorable way. It is a "workplace" after all. If it was fun they wouldn't have to pay you!

Best advice I can give is that if you can't deal with a nutball like bobo then go find work somewhere else. Just don't be disappointed if you find another bobo at that place. Keep swapping jobs in search of another classic R&R...chances are you won't find it.

ReplyDelete
30. I've worked for nearly a dozen different companies, and *none* were anything close to the lunatic asylum that is UCS. Bobo and his Merry Men are unique, in my experience.

ReplyDelete
31. "The very fact that these two articles were even written illustrates the fact that a large number of companies operate in a very similar manner as ole' bobo does. If he was unique, this woman wouldn't know such practices exist"

According to Glassdoor.com, there were only two companies which rated lower just over a year ago.

It doesn't look like a "large number" of companies were all tied for third from the bottom.

Which campus do you work at? Dayton or College Station?

ReplyDelete
32. Look, let's face it. Many of the companies on glassdoor.com that hover near the bottom but rate higher than UREY are simply mis-understood. Classic R&R types compare bobo-world to the old "high school musical"; pre-bobo Reynolds. Naturally, these folks will be harder on the company than someone who never worked in such a dream world. You don't even have to look that far. Just compare Houston drones to classic R&R types and see how they differ.
It's all perception...after all.

33. Reynolds Welcomes Border Collie to Reduce Geese Population at Headquarters

Last week, Reynolds welcomed a new member to the Reynolds family at Headquarters: a 3-year-old Border Collie named Sammy.

Border Collies are highly intelligent, working dogs, and Sammy is trained to chase geese, but not harm them. He will be used to keep geese away from the campus so that they are not creating a mess on the property or intimidating associates and visitors during nesting season. The geese see dogs as a natural predator and immediately fly away.

During the day, Sammy has a kennel on the property and will patrol the entire back property, which has been encircled with invisible fence. He will make rounds of the property five days a week, multiple times each day. Occasionally, Sammy will be taken on a leash to patrol the front parking area. At night and on weekends, Sammy will go home with Facilities Manager Mark Crockett and his family. See a picture of Sammy.

If you see Sammy while he is on patrol or in his kennel:

· Do not disturb him or try to pet him.

· Do not try to give him commands or call him.

· Do not try to feed him. Sammy is a trained athlete and is fed a special diet of premium dry dog food.

Sammy is expected to be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to the netting, visual deterrents, and chemical lawn sprays Reynolds has used in the past to reduce the geese population.

34. My team was the first to move in at RP. The geese were always a problem. Why now? Its nice to know they fired me for Sammy the dog.

ReplyDelete
35. Probably because some houston goon stepped in goose shit one day.

36. "Why now? Its nice to know they fired me for Sammy the dog."

37. "So Terry Jones can have someone that speaks on his intellectual level when he visits RP."

I imagine that Sammy is more engaging in a conversation than Terry is. At minimum, his vocabulary is more than "uh huh".

ReplyDelete
38. Finally! A replacement for the overpaid stupid, fat, and non-working TAC Sammy.

ReplyDelete
39. One sure way to scare the geese out of the sky (and stop them from bombing the cars in the parking lot with poop) would be to hang Bobo from one of the light posts out front of the building.

ReplyDelete
40. "Look, let's face it."

Should we take that as "College Station" ?

41. "The very fact that these two articles were even written illustrates the fact that a large number of companies operate in a very similar manner as ole' bobo does. If he was unique, this woman wouldn't know such practices exist."

SOME (like maybe 1 or 2) of these practices exist at a large number of companies, but not ALL of them. I guess we're just lucky...

ReplyDelete
42. The other companies at the bottom of the list have real customer, product or support issues, it's a little different with URey as they don't see it the same way. To really get it, a little translation can make the concept easier to understand for those who do not work at the company.

1) The rest of us: Employees, URey: Victims

2) The rest of us: Clients, URey: Hostages

If he can convert either of these into prisoners, cookies are handed out in the cafeteria at a %15.274 (limit one per prisoner) discount on your debit account.

There was more -but for "security" reasons, I was ordered to write in the number of legs on a frog on the memo and then eat it. Go figure.

The cafeteria would not include a discount for the memo after I swallowed, but I was able to get a receipt for my taxes -that works. What a place to work!
